There are 2 trails here, with the starting point served by a nearby car park. It is also en route of the Wye Valley Trail One trail is classified as intermediary and a bit longer then the other "challenging" one. Both lead to the op of the cliff, the latter mostly by laid stones marking steps. A tough climb but the view is simply outstanding. There is also a bench and panoramic plaque highlighting what can be seen from the viewing platform. Loved it!

There are a couple of caves in this area. The first (coming from Chepstow) is very shallow and raided above the path. The second "Giant Cave" has outstanding safe viewing platform outside it, and the cave actually opens into a secondary exit allowing passage through the rock. This is a natural formation it would appear. Highly recommended!

You can ride right under the A48 bridge, and if you go the end of the peninsula you get views of the M4 bridge and the ruined church.

Please be aware that the Northern path into/out of this viewpoint is currently closed due to a landslide (as of October 2024). I've added a photo, highlighting the closed path, to this highlight 🍂✨️🍂 You can still access this viewpoint, but you have to go down and then back up the stairs. Stunning views over the River Wye, Chepstow Castle, and, on a clear day, one of the Severn Bridges, too!

Coffee#1 is great for rolls, cakes, a range of teas and coffee. OK for cycles outside too, provided you can keep an eye on them.

Great views over the Wye Valley

This striking feature is a curving tunnel that is cut into the rock-face through which Piercefield Walk passes via a large opening in the southern side, and a smaller rectangular portal in the northern. It is part natural feature, and part hand-made.

Standing proudly on a limestone cliff above the River Wye, Chepstow Castle is a magnificent fortress with a history that stretches back nearly 1,000 years. Founded in 1067 by Earl William fitz Osbern, a close friend of William the Conqueror, the castle was one of the first Norman strongholds in Wales. These days, it is an interesting place to visit and affords some stunning views.

After a long closure, the new bridge is finished and open to traffic.

Grade 1 listed bridge constructed in 1816. Great views of Chepstow Castle.

Constructed as a light railway bridge in the 1870's for the Wireworks branch of the Monmouth and Wye Valley Railway. The Wireworks closed in 1901 but the bridge continued to carry a horse tramway until 1935 when it was finally closed and has been a footpath ever since. It's currently being renovated. Delivery and installation of the steelwork is expected to commence in late January 2023, with completion of these steelworks scheduled for late February 2023.

Eagles Nest is situated at the top of a steep, wooded limestone cliff and as the highest point on the Monmouthshire bank of the Wye, at 770 foot (235 m). It offers the most stunning viewpoint for miles. Looking east it's ideal for catching the sunrise and has views across the Wye Valley, Rivers Wye and Severn, Chepstow, the Severn Bridges and the Cotswolds.
