Courtyard Cafe is Ok for a weekday. Wheel your bike through the Garden Centre. Would be too busy at the weekend. Good Coffee and a good menu

Must see viaduct just amazing

Very impressive viaduct. You arrive there when you pass into Rutland area.

Picks Barn is a great place for coffee and a bite to eat although it’s not open on Monday and Tuesday

The castle was built between 1180 and 1190 by Walkelin de Ferrers, lord of the manor of Oakham, and a great nephew of Robert de Ferrers, 1st Earl of Derby.[1] The Great Hall comprises a nave and two arcaded aisles, each with three large stone columns. There are a number of 12th-century sculptures decorating the hall including six musicians that are supported by the columns. The sculptures are carved from local stone quarried at Clipsham and are believed to have been made by masons who had also worked at Canterbury Cathedral.[2]

Cafe provides excellent food at reasonable prices. Plenty of outside seats and bike racks. Only 1 toilet so expect to que. Well worth a stop on your ride.

The church was built in classical style for the Normanton Hall estate on the site of a 14th-century building. Except for the tower, the medieval church was rebuilt in 1764 by Sir Gilbert Heathcote, 3rd Baronet. The church was de-consecrated in 1970, and was to have been demolished as part of the reservoir construction, as its floor was below the proposed water level. Following a public outcry, the lower half was filled with stone and rubble, and a concrete cap constructed just below the level of the windows.

I use this place regularly. They are very helpful and can sort most jobs that you can't manage at home, like removing spd cleats whose fixing bolts have rounded off or pedals stuck in cranks (despite being greased). Usually some form of bike-racing on the big TV screen to provide distraction.

Love this bike shop! Spacious and well laid out with a wide range of cycles, equipment, kit and services. And they know their stuff. One of my go-to destinations.

Spectacular structure striding across the valley of the River Welland. Best viewed from the high ground on the Seaton road.

Multiple sharp climbs and quick descents between Oakham and Uppingham as the road drops into the valleys of the Rivers Gwash, Chater and their tributaries then climbs the ridges inbetween them, all on quiet but wide roads in scenic countryside.
