Hemyock is the largest village within the Blackdown Hills Area of Natural Beauty in Somerset. The village features a number of fascinating historic buildings, including a medieval castle, an Elizabethan chapel, a church that dates back to Norman times, and a pub that's been established since 1740!

This beautiful place has been ruined by euroforest tree felling and not clearing up after the utter devastation they've caused. The personal responsible for the mess should be strung up in this forest for all to see

Hemyock, on the River Culm, is the largest village in the Blackdown Hills AONB. A settlement can be traced here right back to 100BC and it has a history of iron smelting. Here you can find a Norman Church, St Mary's, and a Medieval Castle from the 14th century. There is also a small shop and a pub if you need supplies.

From the gateway into Killerton Park, via Columbjohn Farm, through Columbjohn Wood and around the perimeter of Killerton Park Wood, to join the road at Ellerhayes Bridge - about 2.5 miles of very enjoyable track - combine it with the cycle path from Braoadclyst to Killerton for a total of about 5.5 miles of good, continuous off-road riding.

Open heathland habitat at the end of the East Hill strip looking out over Sidmouth and the Jurassic Coastline. You can see the entire length of Lyme Bay from up here on a clear day. Both yellowhammers and the nationally scarce dartford warbler breed on the reserve, and you might also see nightjars up here are night, hunting for moths. You might meet a few Exmoor ponies and Belted Galloway cattle on your visit, who are used to help graze a small part of the reserve in a fenced area. The site is a good example of partnership working in action: it is owned by Sidmouth Town Council, and Wild East Devon work in partnership with the RSPB Aylesbeare team to manage and run events on the site. For cycling, the bridleway runs down through the centre before the brilliant switchbacks down towards Bowd.
