Kreuzenstein Castle rises impressively above Leobendorf on a hill in the Rohrwald forest. The site was strategically important due to its elevated position, 266 meters above sea level and approximately 100 meters above the Danube. The castle was reconstructed in the 19th century on the ruins of an earlier castle.

The Asperlkeller in Unterrohrbach is a great place to stop off on tours through the Weinviertel. The cellar lane in which the wine tavern is located is well integrated into regional cycle routes. The Unterrohrbacher Runde or routes along Kreuzenstein Castle pass by the Asperlkeller. A good opportunity to take a break here, enjoy regional wines and wine tavern specialties and experience the idyllic surroundings.

Today, it is perfect for panoramic views of the region and is a popular tourist attraction with a medieval flair. A very beautiful sight and also a worthwhile destination for a bike ride.

From the plain between Korneuburg and Leobendorf the view wanders to Kreuzenstein Castle in the distance. The historicizing Schauburg was built between 1874 and 1906 on the site of a medieval hilltop castle. The polar explorer and art collector Count Johann Nepomuk Wilczek had it built as a museum for his art collections.

Immediately opposite the gate to Kreuzenstein Castle, the castle tavern invites you to refresh yourself again after a long period of closure since April 2023 - even in winter with slightly reduced opening times. In summer there is also a beer garden.
