Fantastic place that has an amazing cafe, a stone oven baked pizza and a pub - ALL IN ONE! Set on a lovely village green with cricket some weekends. Stunning setting!

This is just the most delightful stretch of gravel! Goes through the forest and is bone dry even when the rest of England is under water (April 2024).

Nice place to stop for a quick snack break and is generally really quiet in this area.

Holy Cross is an impressive church which traces its origins back to the 12th century and boasts the addition of two chapels in the 14th century. Notable features include an eye-catching stained glass window crafted by Capronnier, a memorial dedicated to Sir Richard de Westcote – regarded as the earliest known resident of the village – and a complete peal of six resounding bells. In the churchyard, a poignant landmark resides in the form of the final resting place of Viscount Montgomery of Alamein.

Chawton Woods is a beautiful woodland area, near to the village of Chawton, the former home of Jane Austen. The woods are situated within close proximity to Jane Austen's House Museum. Part of National Cycle Network route 224, a fantastic well-surfaced gravel track runs through the woods linking the Hampshire villages of Chawton and Four Marks.

The Shipwrights Way is a long-distance route which links villages and towns in East Hampshire through beautiful countryside. The name of this trail reflects the journey of oak grown at Alice Holt to dockyards like Portsmouth for medieval shipbuilding. The route continues south and finishes at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. It’s a stunning section of flat woodland cycling through Alice Holt Forest. The terrain is well-surfaced compact gravel. You’ll find plenty of picnic benches along the way and a cafe.
