Beautiful route! Just wear long running leggings as there are a few nettles on the initial smaller trails.

1월 19, 2023, Grace's Walk
The track between Hammonds Road in the west and Great Graces in East is known as Grace's Walk, after Lady Alice Grace. She is said to have walked down this path on her way to drown herself at Sandon Brook, the little river closeby. Listen carefully as her footsteps have been heard as well as sightings of Lady Alice on horseback wearing a cloak.

1월 11, 2023, River Chelmer
The River Chelmer flows for 65km from Debden to the Blackwater Estuary and passes only through the county of Essex. It was previously known as the River Baddow, but its name was wrongly changed on the assumption that Chelmsford was named after a river crossing over the River Chelmer. In fact, Chelmsford was named after the landowner, Cēolmǣr. It is a beautiful river to walk along with a real feeling of peace and tranquility so close to the city.

5월 13, 2021, Rayne Station and Flitch Way Visitor Centre
Once a working train station on the Bishop's Stortford to Braintree line, Rayne is now a lovely stop on the Flitch Way cycle and hiking trail. The station building houses the Flitch Way visitor centre and you can enjoy cakes and hot drinks from the cafe while sitting on the benches where trains once rumbled. There's also a railway carriage museum here which is great fun for children to explore and find out more about the old branch lines.

6월 29, 2020, Coggeshall Historic Town Centre
Coggeshall is a pretty town that boasts almost 200 listed buildings, including many beautiful timber-framed Tudor buildings. There are lots of attractions in and around the town including the magnificent St Peter ad Vincula (known as the 'wool church'), Paycockes House, the Grange Barn, and the remains of the former abbey. There are a couple of decent pubs, plenty of places for food, shops, and more, making it a good choice for a pit-stop.
