A very beautiful basilica and from here you have a wonderful view of the Danube. On the history of the pilgrimage church Maria Taferl: The emergence of the Maria Taferl pilgrimage church is closely linked to two inexplicable miracle stories that are said to have happened in 1633 and 1642, respectively. Both stories are about an oak tree with a tablet with a cross attached to its trunk. This was replaced in later years by a Vesper picture. Miraculous healings and answers to prayer took place and the influx of pilgrims and pilgrims made it necessary to build a church. The laying of the foundation stone for the pilgrimage church Maria Taferl, in which the oak tree with the miraculous image was included, took place in 1660. The consecration of the church then took place in 1724. From the beginning of the pilgrimage, the faithful turned to Our Lady, the votive image in the oak, where they received help or healing. On December 15, 1947, Pope Pius XII awarded Maria Taferl the title and the dignity of a minor basilica.

I only knew the church by name. When I was in the area, I had to go. A beautiful church. Makes a huge impression from the outside with the large forecourt. From the inside then, very nice. Especially the candle chamber. You have a wonderful view of the valley outside.
