There is a great trail all around the lake, but the eastern shore is so much quieter and the trails are rougher and more fun to run. The eastern shore is also quite inaccessible, other than while looping the whole lake which makes it feel like an adventure!

Coffee Couture café is well situated near the car park at Wimbleball Lake. They have plenty of space inside and tables outside, so you can enjoy the sunshine or warm up after a chilly run, depending on the weather.

Bury Bridge at Bury in the parish of Brompton Regis within the English county of Somerset is a medieval packhorse bridge. It has been scheduled as an ancient monument and Grade II* listed building. The stone bridge carries a track over the River Haddeo.

It lies on the southeastern fringe of Exmoor National Park, though it is separated from the Exmoor massif itself by the valleys of the rivers Haddeo and Exe, the highest point of 1,164ft

All the cafés and inns are good - though special mention to Bridge House (opposite car park near church) for "proper good food", a really nice welcome, and being able to store bikes inside (just ask) - hot choc is amazing!

This dam was constructed in two phases, beginning in 1974 and completed in 1978. Due to a dry winter and the need for water during the summers of the two following years, the lake did not overflow until 1980.

This packhorse bridge crosses the River Haddeo. Of medieval origin, it has four arches and high stone parapets. It is located very close to Haddon Hill and Wimbleball Lake.

This trig point is located atop Haddon Hill at an elevation of 355 metres. From here, you can overlook a part of Wimbleball Lake, which is very close by.

The trig point at Haddon Hill is situated at 355 meters above sea level and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. During the Second World War, there was a U.S. Army military camp on this hill during the buildup to the Normandy landings in 1944. It is easily accessible from Bury or the nearby parking area.

This section goes over the Wimbleball Dam, constructed between 1974 and 1979. As you walk across this impressive structure, standing over 40 meters tall, you'll have the opportunity to observe all its details as well as the surrounding landscape.

This old wool town lies just south of Exmoor National Park and is a lovely place to stop for a bite to eat. Dating back 1,000 years at least, Bampton retains a distinct air of community and serenity. The town is a conservation area and has more listed buildings than you can shake a stick at. Hike up to the motte and bailey castle for lovely views over the town.
