I walked with Sarah for just over 2 miles from the carpark keeping go the pathway & then we turned back (Sarah was hungry and her knee was in some pain) . Lots of dog walkers, lots of good mornings. A shame about poop on the path and dog poo bags hung on branches or dumped by the side of the paths - what is wrong with dog owners that they can’t take it to a bin (one if provided!) . A nice walk. I’d like to do more but would prefer if it was circular so you know you’re ending when your car is parked!

Watch out for the high tide. Need to swim to the ferry.......

The Hamble to Warsash ferry has been operating since 1493! The current pink ferry operates daily between 10:00 and 16:00. It's an on demand service without a set timetable so call 07827 157154 if you can't see the ferry. Adults are £2.50 and bikes 50p.

Netley Abbey managed by English Heritage is free entry. Built in the 13 century it is the most complete abbey built by the Cistercian monks in southern England.

Once the site of Portus Adurni, a Roman fort, the Porchester Castle you see today dates back to the 11th century. This vast defensive site occupies a prominent position within Portsmouth Harbour and has fantastic views southwards. The castle has seen many occupiers over the years including, briefly, the French. You can climb to the top of the keep to get the best views of the busy harbour. These days, the castle is under the management of English Heritage and open throughout the year for visitors. To save money on ticket price, book online in advance.
