The Mendip Way is a super 50 mile (80 km) long-distance footpath that takes in the beautiful scenic qualities of the gentle Mendip Hills. Nearby is beautiful Ebbor Wood and Ebbor Gorge, which forms part of the West Mendip Way. The West Mendip Way as a whole traverses the entire central Mendip Plateau. The scenery is gorgeous, and not far away is famous Wokey Hole village, with its equally famous cave.

An excellent country pub serving great food and well-kept beer, really worth a stop. Very walker/runner friendly and situated at the midpoint of a great Ebbor Gorge loop. It's also on the Mendip Way and the Butcombe trail.

Ebbor Gorge is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and National Nature Reserve(NNR). Dramatic limestone gorge with interesting caves of important past climate research. Its ancient woodland combes are rich in wildlife and of the Mendip Hills AONB's special qualities

Deer Leap providing one of the best views in Somerset is a nature reserve managed by Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Unit (AONB). It is nationally protected for it's archaeology as an ancient medieval farmstead. Sheep graze here all year round as part of habitat management for wildflowers and butterflies. Grazing helps keep conditions right for wildflower seeds and is vital to keeping this nature reserve protected. The south facing slopes and limestone grassland host a wide variety of wildlife including birds that nest on the ground such as skylarks. Please keep dogs on a lead and under close control to protect wildlife
