A looping nature trails around Annagh Lough. The forest trail of Annagh Woods are ready to be explored.

The canal is 63km long in total and links the River Shannon and the River Erne. It began life as the Ballinamore-Ballyconnell canal in 1846 and after falling into disrepair with the decline in industry, it was refurbished as a leisure canal from the 1960s.

Annagh Lough is a popular fishing spot, especially for trout. The trail runs next to the lough here with views across the reedbeds.

One of 16 locks on the The Shannon – Erne Waterway, lock number 2 is a great place to watch the brightly coloured barges go by and the rise and fall of the boats as they pass through the lock. The canal links the River Shannon in the Republic of Ireland with the River Erne in Northern Ireland.

Managed by the National Trust, the Crom Estate is a large nature reserve of woodlands, lake, castle ruins and islands. It is an important habitat for pine martens, bats, deer, red squirrels and butterflies. There is a coffee shop at the estate and if you fancy something different you can hire a boat to explore the lough.
