Somerset Levels에서 극적으로 솟아오른 Glastonbury Tor는 영국에서 가장 신비롭고 상징적인 랜드마크 중 하나입니다. 이곳은 숨 막히게 아름다운 자연과 수 세기에 걸친 풍부한 민속, 고대 전설, 영적 역사가 완전히 어우러진 곳입니다. 정상으로 가는 길: 정상으로 향하는 길은 계단식 잔디 언덕을 따라 이어집니다. 오르막길이 다소 가파르지만, 한 걸음 한 걸음 내디딜 때마다 펼쳐지는 구릉 지대와 Mendip Hills의 탁 트인 파노라마 전망은 그만한 가치가 있으며, 날씨가 맑은 날에는 Wales까지 보입니다. St. Michael’s Tower: 꼭대기에는 지붕이 없는 14세기 St. Michael’s Tower가 서 있습니다. 한때 언덕을 장식했던 중세 교회의 유일한 흔적으로, 스카이라인에 놀랍도록 분위기 있고 역사적인 느낌을 더해줍니다. 신화와 미스터리: 아서 왕의 전설(종종 Avalon 섬과 연결됨)과 고대 이교도 설화가 깃든 Tor는 부인할 수 없는 마법 같은 분위기를 자아냅니다. 일출을 감상하고, 산들바람을 느끼며, 영국 유산의 시대를 초월한 평화로운 한 조각을 만끽하기에 환상적인 장소입니다.

Internationally famous as a haven for birdwatchers in particular, Somerset Wildlife Trust’s main site on the Peat Moors covers more than 100 hectares. Restored peat diggings, three miles north-west of Glastonbury have been transformed into a network of open water, reed bed and the largest surviving fragment of lowland acid mire in the South-West. Designated as a National Nature Reserve, Westhay Moor was a pioneering project by Somerset Wildlife Trust, in the early 1980s. Since the site’s restoration it has become recognised as one of the top bird watching locations in Britain and often features in documentaries, including the BBC’s Springwatch and Autumnwatch series. Westhay's biggest attractions for birdwatchers arrive in autumn and stay through to January/ February -several million starlings fill the sky as they arrive to roost among the reeds each afternoon.

St David’s is a handsome-looking church in Barton St David with a distinctive castle-like tower. The church was built between the 12th and 15th centuries and underwent a major restoration in the 19th century. Inside, you can observe a 17th-century pulpit and a 13th-century font. St David’s is Grade II-listed.

You can spot Glastonbury Tor from miles around as you ride along the flat lanes in the Somerset Levels. Perched atop a hill, it's a definitive landmark of the area. It's considered to be one of the most spiritual sites in the country, especially among pagans.

Good choices, wonderfully clean toilets. Nice map on the toilet wall showing what will happen to the area if/when the ice caps all melt! Gulp.

Run by Vicky & Rob Sweet - local riders know the spot and Saturday mornings see many club groups arrive. Tor 2000 run a 'Youth Ride' from Sweets at 10am on Saturdays.

Just off the main road and you're onto the Levels ...... mind the potholes though!
