Nynehead Hollow is a super cool landmark on the outskirts of Nynehead Village. The road has literally been roughly carved through solid rock, with high walls and trees growing above.

A lovely drove. Sometimes big puddles after rain. Plenty of wildlife, and feels lovely and remote

The pub is no longer open but there is also a Post Office /Village shop in the centre.

One could be mistaken for thinking you’ve entered into the world of Harry Potter. With numerous shops selling crystals, incense, spiritualistic and a cult books.

Nynehead Hollow is a scenic lane forming part of NCN 3. It's an impressive road that has been roughly carved through solid rock, with high walls and trees growing above. The “Hollow” was said to be dug out by the Sandford family in the hope of making Nynehead Court quicker to get to from the servant houses which were situated in East Nynehead.

Stroll through this bustling and vibrant high street belonging to the historic town of Glastonbury in Somerset. There are plenty of quirky and independent shops, cafés, and restaurants to discover where you can find crystals, healing products, artisanal food, and much more.

The monument at Athelney commemorates King Alfred the Greats occupation of the monastery and fort here in the late 800's. He is said to have hidden here when the rest of England was occupied by the Danes, Athelney at that time was a low-lying island within the Somerset levels. Alfred later raised an army and defeated the occupying forces at the battle of Edington in May 878.

I loved this place for a good lunch on the way. First of all because the food was really good. But also because the garden is simply gorgeous AND they’re so bike friendly! There is a bike parking in the back of the garden.

For a year around 879, Athelney was the only part of England not under Danish control. It was where Alfred hid out and prepared his fightback. Had the Danes been able to snuff out Saxon rule at this point, British history would probably have been very different.
