8월 21, 2024, View of Rhossili Bay
Rhossili Bay is the focal point of the Gower Peninsula. It is just such an iconic destination. In the immediate vicinity, you have views of the amazing rocky peninsula of Worms Head, the sweeping panoramic view across Rhossili Bay Beach, and the nearby ridge that forms Rhossili Down with its trig pointed summit. There is a National Trust car park here for parking, bars, and cafes. The path down to the beach is good but not accessible for wheelchairs, unfortunately. On the beach itself, there is the iconic wreck of the Norwegian barque Helvetia. The remains of the wreck at low tide are simply one of the most photographed locations on Gower, and its ribbed outline resembles something akin to a dinosaur ribcage poking its way out of the sand. On the far side of this glorious three-mile beach is Burry Holmes Island, but it is only accessible at low tide. This is equally so with nearby Worms Head, which is a great adventure but one that needs due care due to its rocky nature and tidal access. This iconic tidal penninsula is only available 2.5 hours either side of low tide, and the walk will take you a minimum of two hours. Ensure you are in good physical shape to do the journey and have checked the tide times before you depart. If in doubt or for further excellent information, see Chris Knight's webpage below. https://ohwhataknight.co.uk/blog/worms-head-hike-guide WARNING: Crossing to Worms Head has resulted in injuries and drowning fatalities in the past. If you have been caught out by the tide, do not attempt to swim ashore.

11월 1, 2023, Oxwich National Nature Reserve
Oxwich National Nature Reserve is right off beautiful Oxwich Bay (funny enough!). It's a great place with a mix of sand dunes, lakes, woodlands, cliffs and some marshes. Oxwich Bay is one of Gower’s most visited beaches and a beautiful place to visit.

This section is quite spectacular and lightly-travelled. For some reason it is not as busy as a lot of places on the Gower but the views are great.

One of the most famous places in Wales. The viewpoint where you can look out at a tidal rocky causeway connected piece of land that is straight out of the film 'The land that time forgot.' Simply a stunning vista on any day of the week.

Nearly all the south Gower coastline is formed of dramatic cliffs and slopes of light grey carboniferous limestone. Port Eynon headland is no different. Intrepid walkers will relish the magnificent walk along these craggy cliffs as it has some spectacular views.

Rhossili Beach stretches for miles, boasting golden sands and stunning vistas. Renowned for its dramatic cliffs and the iconic Worm's Head rock formation. It's a perfect spot to Grab an ice cream and rest your tired legs in the Atlantic Ocean.

Rhossili Bay has topped more "best beach" polls than I can count. It is also home to one of the best surf spots in Wales. With 3 miles of sandy shore, it includes one of Gower’s most famous landmarks, Worms Head. The Look Out Cafe is a recommended cyclist-friendly little cafe with fabulous views of the Bay and the Rhosilli Downs from the courtyard.

There was a local tradition that there had been an earlier, pre medieval village complete with church closer to the sea which had been abandoned after "besanding" in the 14th century. A storm and subsequent excavation of newly exposed remains in the Warren (an area of sand dunes to the north of the present village) in 1980 helped to confirm the truth of this. Despite its relatively remote position, Rhossili is a popular tourist destination: the views from the headland and the Down are panoramic; several pleasant walks begin, end, or pass through the village; Iron Age remains are found on Rhossili Down; and the 4 mile (6.4 km) long beach attracts surfers, particularly at the Llangennith (northern) end. The prominent wreck of the Helvetia, which ran aground in Rhossili Bay in November 1887, bears witness to the challenging sea conditions.

There was some wooden decking outside this 90-year-old boathouse built by the owner overlooking stunning Rhossili Bay but was ordered to be ripped up “as a matter of urgency”.
