Minehead has a huge beach. On reasonably clear days you can see towards Wales

Minehead is a seaside resort on the edge of Exmoor. Apart from the fact that there is a Butlins holiday camp here and tons of "individual tourists" start the Coastal Path here, it is worth taking a look at this quite charming place. Good old English charm. Away from the coast? Then walk through the forest to Dunster, where it is deserted (in the forest) and really individual

Minehead is a lovely seaside resort with absolutely everything a visitor could wish for. The Coastal Path begins here and many people only stay for 1 night, but it is also a good base for a longer vacation. The whole of Exmoor, the North Devon coast to Clovelly, but also beautiful Wells and the eccentric Glastonbury and Cheddar Gorge are very easy to reach.

If you like steam trains, wait for one to pass on this section of line in front of Dunster castle.

The railway makes a fun challenge ride. Friends or family members can ride the train and you can race on the bike there and back with café stop in the middle.

Minehead station is the northern terminus of the West Somerset heritage railway. The railway runs from here south along the coast to Watchet and then south down the edge of the Quantock Hills to Bishops Lydeard near Taunton. There are regular steam and heritage diesel trains running throughout the year but check the website for timings. west-somerset-railway.co.uk
