This church dates back to the 12th century, although several of its parts are from later years, such as the tower (1500) or the North aisle and Trevelyan chapel (1540). Like many other churches, it underwent various restorations in the 19th century. The building you see to its left also holds historical significance; it is the Nettlecombe Court.

Although the north aisle and south porch are from the 19th century, the Churchtown church has much older elements, such as the tower (15th century) and the chancel (13th century).

This beautiful house was built at the beginning of the 19th century, although inside it, there are older elements from other dwellings.

Very close to the path, we can enjoy this beautiful waterfall from water that originates in the hills above Comberow and eventually flows into the Washford River.

At this point, we will suddenly come across this well-preserved World War II pillbox. In fact, the roof has been recently restored. The original wooden roof was covered with shingles, as shown in a photo from 1978.

Despite having some works from the 14th century, St. Peter's Church dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century. Like many other churches, it underwent a restoration in the 19th century, although in the case of St. Peter's Church, it was in the early part of this century. Within the church, there is a carved wooden figure from 1965 made by Rachel Reckitt.

Somerset is always a lovely place to hike but its fingerposts give walks a special touch. Many rural counties historically used fingerposts to direct travellers to villages and towns, but many of these were replaced by the modern system from the 1960s. Those that remain can often be seen in a poor state of repair, rusting and taken over by hedges. Not so in Somerset. With around 1,700 fingerposts in this pastoral country, these historic signs are somewhat cherished. The council began the Somerset Fingerpost Restoration Project, funding their upkeep for a short period before handing over most of the work to parish councils and volunteers. Every gleaming fingerpost you pass in Somerset has been lovingly restored and hand painted, making them each quite special. There are still many left to renovate. This is a well maintained example, sitting at a crossroads just north of Exmoor's Kingsbridge.
