Situated on Romney Marsh and not far from the local town of New Romney. Surrounded by the marshes and opposite the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, The Star Inn offers a traditional pub setting with a modern menu and well kept selection of real ales. Cycling Route 18 passes through Victoria Park and the Watercress Fields on its way out to rural Kent. A flat and well surfaced path, it is ideal for families or as the start of a longer route from Ashford. There is often a coffee van near the fountain.

Part of Ashford's Green Corridor which stretches along the Great Stour river. Victoria Park and the adjacent Watercress Fields make great running venues close to the town. There are flat grassy areas and woodland paths.

Appledore's church is dedicated to St Peter and St Paul. Dating back to the 13th-century with many 14th-century renovations, the church has plenty of interesting features. Both the tower and north chapel are original 13th-century sections, but the rest of the church is later as the French, common invaders in the region, partially burnt it down toward the end of the 14th century.

This church sits on a site that has seen much in its time. A Saxon fort was once built here but Danish invaders sacked it and a church of this dedication was noted in the Domesday Book. Part of the tower dates back to the 12th century and it was struck by lightening in the 16th. The resulting fire destroyed much of the church, and it was rebuilt into the one you see today.

A local farm with a vending machine with various produce such as cakes, pies, fruit, veg, yogurts, local fruit drinks, milkshake etc......it varies depending on demand. The vending machine takes card only. make sure you close the vending machine product doors after you take your product.
