The Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta is one of the oldest and most famous hotels in Jakarta. It is located in the center of Jakarta on the traffic circle named after him, 'Bundaran Hotel Indonesia'. Indonesia's first president, Sukarno, ordered the construction of the hotel in preparation for the 1962 Asian Games in order to present a modern Indonesia to the world. In 1993, the Governor of Jakarta declared the Hotel Indonesia a national cultural heritage site.
