「포트 루이」 요새는 1789년 생 마르탱과 생 바르텔레미의 당시 총독이었던 장 세바스티앙 뒤라의 지휘 아래 프랑스 국왕을 위해 건설되었습니다. 주요 목적은 종종 영국 약탈자들의 공격을 받았던 상품(소금, 커피, 사탕수수 설탕, 럼)이 보관되었던 마리곳 항구의 창고를 방어하는 것이었습니다.

마리나 포트 라 로얄은 마리곳의 또 다른 인기 있는 장소입니다. 이곳에서는 휴가객들이 산책로를 따라 여러 레스토랑, 카페, 상점을 찾을 수 있습니다. 마리나는 또한 보트 투어와 이웃 섬인 앙귈라로 가는 교통편의 출발점이기도 합니다.

An interesting walk from the Anse Marcel car park to the wild and beautiful Petites Cayes beach. The wall goes through a protected area of amazing flora and fauna before descending to the beach. Walking sandals are the minimum for this walk as the path is rocky in places and a fall onto the many cacti would be painful. We had the beach to ourselves for a couple of hours and just 5 others for 15 minutes or so.

The Marina Port La Royale is another popular spot in Marigot. Here, holidaymakers will find a number of restaurants, cafes and shops along the promenade. The marina is also a starting point for boat tours and crossings to the neighboring island of Anguilla.

The fortress "Fort Louis" was built for the King of France in 1789 under the direction of Jean Sebastien de Durat, then governor of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. Their main purpose was to defend the warehouses of the port of Marigot, where crops (salt, coffee, cane sugar, rum) were stored, which were often attacked by English raiders.
