Born in 1948 in Ballyshannon, Rory Gallagher was a renowned Irish blues and rock musician. He recorded many solo albums and also performed in the band Taste, selling over 30 million copies worldwide. Gallagher moved to Cork at a young age, where he was brought up. However, a statue was erected in Ballyshannon to pay homage to the great artist. Gallagher died in London at the young age of 47 after complications following a liver transplant.

Although access to the castle is forbidden due to its ruinous state, you can visit the surrounding park for free. Look out for the ruined chapel and overgrown graveyard too.

Exciting loose gravel to ride on, would not recommend for a racing bike.
