Prestwold Hall, a Grade I listed country house, has been the seat of the Packe-Drury-Lowe family for nearly 400 years since its acquisition by Sir Christopher Packe in 1649. Rebuilt in the 1760s and extensively remodelled in the 1840s by architect William Burn in a neoclassical Italianate style, the hall features grand, opulent interiors and scenic 18th-century parkland. In the 20th century, the estate became a pioneer in opening historic homes for corporate entertainment and weddings.

Great pit stop for coffee and cake. No indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating round the back and covered seating with blankets and heaters round the front. Cake is TASTY!

The disused Grantham Canal passes through the village and there is a large basin adjacent to the main road. This would have facilitated loading and mooring when the canal was in use. The basin now attracts a substantial population of swans and ducks.

The footpath is slightly convoluted here but you will see posts pointing you back to the main road.

A good place to start a cycle tour of this end of the Vale of Belvoir. Up to Bottesford and back and finish watching the ducks in the basin.

Wysall is a tremendously attractive Nottinghamshire village. A number of trails and minor roads enable you to explore the rolling Wolds and the nearby woodland. Bunny Old Wood Nature Reserve is a short walk away and is magical during the warmer months. The walker-friendly Plough Inn is a popular pub that serves great pub lunches. There's a beautiful garden for the summer and a cosy log fire for those brisk winter evenings.

This was used as the HQ of a time-trial I did, the cakes & drinks looked good. It would be a good cafe stop if you are riding in the area

A lovely place to stop when walking along the Grantham Canal. There is a tea room and pub right next to the basin to refuel.

Fantastic bike shop and cafe in the middle of the Leicestershire countryside. The cafe serves a selection of coffees, shakes and cold drinks along with sports nutrition and plenty of delicious cakes. Bike shop sells mainly Giant/Liv bikes and components but also plenty of fun socks along with their own Racehub branded kit. The workshop is very knowledgeable and happy to help. There is also open water swimming available in the lake a few times a week. It is a lovely lake to swim in, nice and clean with clearly marked laps and not too deep so gets nice and warm on a hot day. https://www.racehub.uk/

Great ski and cycling shop on the outskirts of East Leake. Featuring a wonderful little cafe where you can enjoy a coffee and some cake while browsing some fabulous cycling/skiing themed books. There is also a brilliant selection of artisan chocolate including the unique chocolate pizza as pictured. There is a spacious bike rack in front of the cafe and there is outdoor and indoor seating. Just beware the gravel driveway if you have carbon soled shoes.
