The River Trent flows close to Hoveringham Road, this is a great place for a break to take in the views. If you don't mind a bit of gravel, the Trent Valley Way follows a bridleway along the bank here.

Entry to Newstead Abbey from Ravenshead / Nottingham Rd side there is a sign showing a charge for bikes as well as cars. However, just cycle through, even if the attendant is collecting money from car driver's. I've been through many times never challenged. If challenged say you're just passing through to Annesley!

Entering Newstead Abbey Park from the Ravenshead/ Nottingham Rd entrance there is a sign suggesting entrance fee for cyclists, as well as cars. I just cycle through, never been challenged! I always pass through to Annesley without stopping, maybe the charge provides a ticket for visiting the gardens?

The grounds around the abbey are a great place to explore.

follow the old railway from Mill lakes for what becomes some great single-track

This route is shared pavement all the way to the town centre and beyond. This puts you on route to national cycle route 6 and Kirkby in Ashfield

This is where you can go either to Newstead Villiage or follow cycle route 6 to Newstead Abbey. This is very muddy in wet or after weather.

This is a great steady walk or ride, from Linby to Newstead Abbey or to the Village. Beware this track can get very muddy in wet weather

Can be a little narrow in places and has a hidden dip where you might not be able to see other users coming up
