It’s a cheeky climb but well worth doing

This time trial-style segment is ideal for steady riding, intervals and fitness tests. It's a fast road but cars have lots of room to pass.

The quiet tree-lined back roads to the north of Redditch, in particular around the Aspley Heath and Portway area, are simply quite blissful to ride on. Here you can enjoy the serenity of lush green countryside, leefy country roads, gentle undulating terrain, and tranquil surroundings, which seems totally at odds with the multitude of nearby urban environments.

Singing countryside lanes along NCN 5, very quiet, almost no traffic, lots of cyclist. NCN 5 goes to Bromsgrove (North-western direction) or Redditch (Eastern direction)

After a section under the bridge (M5), views of this gently babbling brook are shown to your eyes. It follows the lane for about 250m

Very nice. Often stop here as it’s on my 30 miler round trip. Wonderful granola/flapjack full of cranberry, pumpkin seed etc. plus everything you expect in a good farm shop.

Spot on for a mid or post ride beer and great Sunday roast.

Great little bar with a few taps & plentiful supply of can & salt based snacks.

Great selection of hot and cold food & drinks to eat outside or takeaway. Open daily 9am-5pm.

Built in the early 19th century this was used until about 1880. The sails were removed in 1890. Now it's a private home and local landmark.

The Clent Hills are an area of wild higherland in the south-west of Birmingham. Managed by the National Trust.
