Boundary Wood is a lovely gravel section of NCN 6 that cuts through an 85-hectare (210 acres) woodland near Blidworth, managed by Forestry England. It features a mix of young broadleaf trees, conifers, wildflower meadows and a small pond. It’s a great spot for year-round wildlife watching.

Arguably the best mtb section in the whole of Sherwood Pines!

If you still thinking where is a Bike Park with Jumps, this is a best moment to go there, instead of going straight in to Tornado Valey, turn left and follow the road, go straight on crossroads, go straight approximately 200yards, and entrance to the bike park and DH trails its going to be on your right hand side.

Some deforestation and the addition of a few more berms at the beginning of this section has helped to improve the flow and makes this one of my favourite sections at Pines.

Entry to Newstead Abbey from Ravenshead / Nottingham Rd side there is a sign showing a charge for bikes as well as cars. However, just cycle through, even if the attendant is collecting money from car driver's. I've been through many times never challenged. If challenged say you're just passing through to Annesley!

Entering Newstead Abbey Park from the Ravenshead/ Nottingham Rd entrance there is a sign suggesting entrance fee for cyclists, as well as cars. I just cycle through, never been challenged! I always pass through to Annesley without stopping, maybe the charge provides a ticket for visiting the gardens?

With lots of Fire Trails and single track there’s plenty to explore or you could use it as part of a longer route as the trails branch off into multiple local towns but as the Woodland has no official car park you’ll have to figure that part out for yourself

Supposedly haunted woods. The Story.... Location of the haunted place: Harlow Wood, nr Mansfield, Nottingham. Origin of the haunting: 19th Century Background: At the bottom of the rise leading up to Harlow Wood on the road between Nottingham and Mansfield (near the site of the Orthopaedic Hospital), there is a memorial stone for Elizabeth Shepherd. Her ghost tells the story. Ghost story: On the 7th July 1817, I left my home in Papplewick to look for work in Mansfield. I was making my way home in the evening when a man attacked me. I was so frightened and tried to fight him but he was too strong. He killed me and left me by the road. My mother had come to look for me and seen me in the distance. She turned for home expecting me to catch up; but I never did. There was outrage when my body was found and soon they captured the man who had murdered me. His name was Charles Rotherham and he was executed. A stone was erected where my body was found. I only come back and visit if the stone is moved. The inscription on the stone reads: This stone is erected to the memory of Elizabeth Shepherd, of Papplewick, who was murdered while passing this spot by Charles Rotherham, July 7th, 1817. Aged 17 years.
