Only accessible if you get off your bike and walk.

In a part of the country that’s notorious for subsidising roads with uneven surfaces the smooth new blacktop between Isleham and Prickwillow is a nice surprise. A short stretch in the middle is a little rough but the rest is excellent. With a following Fenland win you can really fly along.

Lovely view from the high ground on top of Coveney ridge across the fen to the cathedral rising from the Isle of Ely.

Wide views from here across the open fenlands when going westbound to Ely Cathedral sailing across the far horizon.

A bike lane runs behind it over the pavement to cut the roundabout if you want to.

It also takes you back again from Norfolk to Cambridgeshire.

Noteworthy as you don’t get many tree-lined roads out in this part of the world.

Scenic, wooded parkland sloping down towards the river from the cathedral close. Bike path isn’t very wide so watch your speed.

Dominating the skyline all around it, Ely Cathedral really is something to behold. Built in the 11th Century, you can sit in the grounds and just marvel at this amazing building. There are also loads of good refreshment options in Ely to choose from.

The Jubilee Clock Tower is an impressive sight at the top of Newmarket High Street. Built in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

The Ouse Washes is a SSSI and an internationally important wetland habitat. Stretching from St Ives to Downham Market it serves as a flood storage area and is often under water in the winter. My dad tells tales of nearly being washed away crossing in the car, back in the day! Some areas of the Washes are managed by the RSPB.
