A fantastic cycling and hiking trail runs along the Elbe dike from Grünendeich and the surrounding villages. A bike ride or a lovely hike here is highly recommended 👍🏻.

The Elbe River has been the scene of numerous collisions and shipwrecks. Most of these have left no trace on the landscape. Near Blankenese, however, several old wrecks can be discovered on the beach. Between the groynes lie the remains of the Finnish motor sailer "Polstjernan" (not "Nordstjern"), which caught fire on October 20, 1926, in what is now the Kiel Canal and was towed and dismantled by the Blankenese salvage company Harmstorf. https://www.hamburg.de/geotope/1685648/wrack-der-polstjernan-altona/
