The car park is free for National Trust members. I love climbing but I don't like heights....confusing I know! I really enjoyed this short climb but I found myself on a small scramble which got my blood pumping a little!

Nice area to stop by, have a snack and enjoy the peaceful noise of a running stream. Don't stop if you need to pee haha! :)

A beautiful example of the local heritage

Great viewing point for the river Wye below.

One of the prettiest villages in the peaks, quiet as people drive past it to visit Bakewell .Nice spot by the river to refuel and enjoy the view.

Stunning views of the valley below

Ashford in the Water is a very pretty Peak District village. It's a nice detour off the A6 between Buxton and Bakewell. There is a nice tearoom and the medieval sheep wash bridge.

Monsal Dale Weir is a classic picturesque Peak District location. Watch water tumble down the different tiers into a serene rocky pool below.

This is an awesome place to watch the sunrise - you’ll get all that early morning light on the valley and the river will sparkle

Sometimes there are cattle in this part of the walk, so maybe dogs on leads if they're a bit excitable

Great views and tunnels

Car parking can be paid using the 'contactless' button and then using a card if you haven't got change. Plenty of parking. Lots of seating outside and benches overlooking the gorgeous view of Monsal Head. Ice cream van ( closed when I was there at half term 2022) Toilets are clean and spacious and run on donations now

At the time of writing, the National Trust has erected signs informing people that the summit is closed due to erosion and the risk of falling rocks. There is no date set for when the path to the summit may reopen (hopefully soon). The path around the hill is still open and affords spectacular views itself.

Thorpe Cloud rises proudly from Dovedale and affords breathtaking views over the River Dove, Bunster Hill, Ilam and beyond. It has a distinctive conical shape and is a popular summit for hikers in the area. That said, it can get extremely busy up here so choose your moment to climb it.

The weir itself is now fenced-off to prevent public access. You can still admire the weir from the footpath, however, and gain access to the river a short step downstream.

On the Monsal Trail, easy gravel path, great ride if you dont like hills much.
