Oldest church location in the front Wiesental. In the church there is a burial chapel of Margrave Rudolf III. (1343 - 1428) and his wife Anna. The painted tombstones are among the most important late Gothic stone sculptures in south-west Germany.

The current church was consecrated in 1401 after the previous Romanesque building was destroyed in the great earthquake in 1356. The church was founded by Rudolf III von Hachburg-Sausenberg, the tombs of Rudolf and Anna von Freiburg in the burial chapel are outstanding examples of Gothic sculpture.
