The barriers are only open if there are no trains coming so not high risk unless you decide to stop for a picnic in the middle. Can be quite a wait at peak times though with so many lines needing to be clear before you can proceed.

To avoid the crossing, head south to Marholm where there is a pedestrian bridge with a cycle gutter along Hurn Road. Going under Werrington Parkway, Lincoln Road will return you to Glinton to resume the journey

(Wikipedia) The son of a farm labourer, he became known for his celebrations of the English countryside and sorrows at its disruption.[1] His poetry underwent major re-evaluation in the late 20th century: he is now often seen as a major 19th-century poet.[2] His biographer Jonathan Bate called Clare "the greatest labouring-class poet that England has ever produced. No one has ever written more powerfully of nature, of a rural childhood, and of the alienated and unstable self."
