Really busy when I arrived, great tracks through the trees, tight with wide bars and nearly came a cropper more than once!

Thetford Forest Park's magnificent beech trees are particularly colourful in autumn. Regardless of the season, it's a lovely place to explore and you might spot the resident deer or bird species like night jars and cross bills.

Parking in the services is a bit strange but totally fine a good start to the walk

The village of West Harling was last inhabited in the 18th century. The parish church of All Saints is remarkably well preserved given the length of time since worshippers last flocked here. Keep an eye out for the interesting gravestone in the churchyard with the epitaph: 'Boast Not Thyself of Tomorrow; Thou Knowest Not What a Day May Bring Forth'.

This area boasts woodland, the River Thet and open heathland. You can take your pick of multiple footpaths to explore beautiful landscapes.

Slightly off the route but clearly signposted. An excellent café in lovely surroundings.

Visit in late October until Mid November depending on the weather to see a magnificent display of autumn colour.

The sources of rivers are rarely impressive to the eye but the source of the rivers Ouse and Waveney is well worth seeking out, particularly if you’ve been walking the Angles Way, which the Waveney in particular is the centrepiece of. The B113 crosses the rivers at the East Anglian watershed and here you’ll find marshy ground which is the location of the Ouse source, flowing to the west, and the Waveney source, flowing to the east.
