Excellent hike, but needs a bit of negotiation. My advice would be stay on the road for first 11/2 mile

Only open at weekends - but the perfect spot for a sunny afternoon!

Decent little climb no to bad and only around 2-3km surroundings are beautiful god road surface. Take you time and enjoy.

Beeston Castle is well worth a visit...the climb up the hill is rewarded with great views over the Cheshire Plain

This is a tuff hike to complete in one day unless you are super fit

A lovely route with some spectacular views. We took a few wrong turns, but soon got back on track. Lunch at The Pheasant was delicious!

Maiden Castle is an Iron Age hill fort constructed around 600 BC. The fort would have been used as an important line of defence until the Roman conquest in the 1st century AD. Today, the hill fort is a scheduled Ancient Monument owned by the National Trust. Set amongst beautiful Bickerton Hills and forests, the hill fort is a popular place to hike and cycle.

At 716 feet (227 m) Rawhead is the highest point on the Sandstone Trail and affords some wonderful views over Cheshire. A little further down the trail, you reach a cave known as Bloody Bones, which you can peek inside.
