Hanmer Mere (Welsh: Llyn Hanmer) is a natural lake and a site of Special Scientific Interest in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The village of Hanmer is at the northern end of the lake. The lake is 18 hectares (44 acres) in extent.

Bangor Bridge (also known as the Bangor-on-Dee Bridge) is a Grade I listed bridge crossing the River Dee in Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is situated on the community boundary between Bangor-is-y-Coed and Sesswick. Located to the west of Bangor-on-Dee, it connects the village's high street and the A525 road bypass. The narrow bridge is a one-way traffic bridge, west to east, and is downstream (north) of the Bangor by-pass bridge.

Known as both Farndon Bridge and Holt Bridge - depending on whether you're on the English or Welsh side. It crosses the River Dee and the England-Wales border between the villages of Farndon, Cheshire, England and Holt, Wrexham,Wales. The bridge, which was built in the mid-14th century, is recorded in the National Heritage List for England and by Cadw as a designated Grade I listed building and scheduled monument. It is built from locally quarried red sandstone and had eight arches, of which five are over the river. On the Farndon side there is one flood arch and two flood arches are on the Holt side.

Lovely old cobbled bridge leading into the pretty Village.

St Alkmund’s Church is a captivating Grade I-listed building. Founded in 912 AD, the church was initially built of white stone, which is why the town is called Whitechurch. However, in 1711 the tower collapsed and had to be rebuilt in red sandstone ashlar, which is why the ‘white church’ looks a little redder than you might expect.

Hanmer is home to one of the nine Meres in this part of the world and it is a beautiful tranquil place. Having the bulk of St Chad's church looking down over the whole scene just adds to the ambience of the whole place.

Breaks up a ride through the countryside nicely as you cross the border between England and Wales. Farndon and Holt are both lovely

The royal oak is a good riverside pub to stop at next to Bangor bridge with a lovely view of the Dee. Generally open from noon to 10pm but closed earlier on a Sunday, not open Monday or Tuesday.

Single carriage way level traffic signal controlled red sandstone bridge. Situated on the Welsh-English border is a Grade 1 listed structure dating from the 14th century. Urban hills either side of the flood plain with cafe stops.

Bangor Bridge dates from about 1660, it is a five-arched stone bridge believed to have been built by Inigo Jones, it is believed to be of the same vintage as the bridge at Llanwtyst and Llangollen, which are both attributed to Inigo Jones.

Handy place to stop if you want a nice quite spot by a lake. There's also a small store on the corner if you want to buy a snack or drink.

Focal point of the nice town of Whitchurch. The town takes its name from the white stone originally used to make the church, way back in around the 10th Century AD. A very impressive building and well worth checking out if you have time to stop.

Bangor-on-Dee is best known for its racecourse, but also offers a pleasant mid-ride stop. The five-arched stone arch bridge across the River Dee dates from about 1660 and it is believed to have been built by Inigo Jones.

With a lot of pleasure I stopped by and sat on a bench admiring the beauty of the Mere.

Impressive church, worth seeing inside as well.

Flowing from Llangollen in North Wales to Hurleston in Cheshire, the Llangollen Canal is a beautiful waterway straddling the border between England and Wales. There are many picturesque spots along the canal: traditional narrowboats glide gently across the water as ducks swim by and anglers sit quietly on the banks. The project of prominent engineers such as Thomas Telford, the canal has carried boats since 1795. Although it is no longer used for industry, many pleasure boats and holidaymakers still enjoy cruising the waters today.
