One of the many passageways to the old town

A beautiful, over 300-year-old oak tree 🌳 with a bench underneath. Perfect for a short break during an outing, to have something to eat and enjoy the view. The path that leads past it is a very narrow paved road that is now rarely used.

The Hornauer Weiher, considered the official source of the Altmühl river, lies far from traffic, quietly on the edge of the village. Here you can relax, swim and barbecue.

A wonderful little Franconian town. Packed with tourists. Like an anthill. Lyrics: "Tower of Babel." Lots of cobblestones. Best to push your bike.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a German town in northern Bavaria known for its medieval architecture. Half-timbered houses line the cobblestone streets of the Old Town. The city walls include many preserved gatehouses and towers, as well as a covered walkway above the wall.

The old town is simply enchanting. This little town is a must-explore, ideally on foot and with plenty of time.

Colmberg Castle sits enthroned on a 511-meter-high mountain spur above the Franconian town of Colmberg in Bavaria. Its history dates back to the 13th century, and it was long owned by the Hohenzollern family. Today, the well-preserved medieval complex houses a castle hotel with a restaurant known for its regional cuisine. The castle offers picturesque views of the surrounding countryside and is a popular starting point for hikes. The 15th-century castle chapel is also a popular venue for weddings.
