Holford Hall is a country house west of the village of Plumley, Cheshire. It consists of a fragment of a much larger timber-framed house, built in 1601 for Mary Cholmondeley on a moated site. Getting a decent photo from closer by was difficult due to the trees.

The road bridge is down on Cheadle Road, there is a scaffolding bridge, although it does say not to walk on it - it’s very sturdy, not good if you’ve got dogs with you though. There is an alternative route following Trouthall Lane, turning right along Back Lane and following the footpath back up to the brook, it is a bit a detour.

Great breakfasts, coffee and cakes. The best pizzas too.

Cafe toilets and can pay to go on boat lift

Good for a stop there are benches. When I was here there was a coffee and cake van doing very tasty snacks too

Check Boat Lift Visitor Centre shop and cafe opening times, In the winter and off peak times its sometimes closed.

The former grand estate at Marbury is now an expansive country park with miles of walking trails, an arboretum, children's play area and beautiful woodlands. There's also an outdoor swimming pool (members only).

Great place to stop off for coffee and cake. They also sell lots of organic produce and ice cream. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Contactless payment accepted.
