Here the Old Brook river cascades down the Pingot Quarry Waterfall, creating a beautiful scene as you pass through Crompton Moor. Wet weather will bring more drama at this beautiful location, but it's still very picturesque no matter what the weather.

Crompton Moor is a moorland and area of biological importance located in the South Pennines in the North West of England. The moor is dominated by purple moor grass and heather, but also features a significant amount of pine forest. There's a diverse range of wildlife on the moor including red grouse, golden plover, and the meadow pipit. It's the perfect location for a stroll and to breathe some fresh air whilst enjoying phenomenal unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside.

Perched in an elevated position just north of the renowned Peak District National Park, the breathtaking views from this vantage point unveil a rugged moorland landscape. Here, amidst the undulating hills, lies the mesmerising Castleshaw Reservoir, a tranquil oasis that adds a touch of serenity to the dramatic surroundings.

Piethorne reservoir is the largest of the series of reservoirs built above Manchester. It was completed in 1868 and provides drinking water.

The spillway is an artificial waterfall channel that allows the water from the Norman Hill reservoir to flow down to the Piethorne Reservoir. It controls the water levels and becomes big and powerful in times of high rain.

Standing at 448m above sea level, this trig point has views down over Castleshaw Reservoir (on a clear day!). It's usually windy up here 😆

Ogden Reservoir was commissioned in 1878 to provide drinking water for Oldham. Today it's a pretty reservoir and popular fishing destination.
