This bridge is probably out of service for the time being, due to a nearby breach in the canal.

10월 23, 2023, St Alkmund's Church, Whitchurch
St Alkmund’s Church is a captivating Grade I-listed building. Founded in 912 AD, the church was initially built of white stone, which is why the town is called Whitechurch. However, in 1711 the tower collapsed and had to be rebuilt in red sandstone ashlar, which is why the ‘white church’ looks a little redder than you might expect.

10월 11, 2022, St Alkmund's Church, Whitchurch
Focal point of the nice town of Whitchurch. The town takes its name from the white stone originally used to make the church, way back in around the 10th Century AD. A very impressive building and well worth checking out if you have time to stop.

8월 11, 2022, Wirswall Hill Viewpoint
The road up from Whitchurch is fine. The road down is very narrow. Make sure you can stop quickly if you meet a car coming up the hill. The section between the farm and the T junction is very potholed with lots of loose gravel.

The canal wharf at Wrenbury Bridge is rather picturesque and a lovely place to stop for a picnic. This historic lifting bridge lets narrowboats pass and is great fun to watch in operation. On a sunny day, the canal looks like it should be on a postcard, particularly if boats are moored up. Wrenbury is small but lovely and you can find a bite to eat in one of its cafes. There are two pubs at the canal bridge.

2월 3, 2021, Grindley Brook Locks
Grindley Brook is a little village just outside Whitchurch on the border of Shropshire, Cheshire and Wales. It's home to six canal locks, three of which form a staircase that lowers the canal (or raises it, depending on which way you're going!). If you're lucky enough to visit when boats are going up or down the staircase, it's worth while hanging around to watch them complete the logistical challenge.

11월 10, 2019, Big Mere Lake
Located on the edge of Marbury village, Big Mere is a pretty stretch of water home to diverse wildlife. Here, you will find bird species from Goosander to Egret as well as many fish. The lake is a designated Site of Specific Scientific Interest and popular place to fish. St Michael's Church stands on the edge of the lake, adding to the picturesque setting. The lake is a lovely place for a picnic.

This is a lovely viewpoint overlooking the village of Marbury. A lovely place for a quick stop and energy bar. Dreadful road to get there but not worse than any other Cheshire road!!
