Although he died in 1694, the building was not consecrated until five years later. From the outside, the chapel appears simple and inconspicuous – a deliberate decision made by the duke. Inside, however, it surprises with its rich Baroque furnishings: an ornately carved altar, colorfully painted ceilings, a delicate pulpit, and a wooden angel with a baptismal font. Today, the chapel belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church and is also a stop on the Way of St. James.
