St James is a medieval church, though largely rebuilt at its restoration in 1856. It’s a Grade I listed building. There’s a bench at the front, making the village of Aslackby (which is pronounced ‘Aze-ul-be’) a good rest spot.

St Andrews Church has a tall needle spire, a distinctive and unusual feature. which dates back to 1869.

Packhorse Bridge is a Grade II listed building in Northbeck, Scredington. It’s a two-arched bridge constructed in c1250 and now carries a footpath over a village stream.

Good place to take the family for a gentle ride around the lake. You need to pay to get in unless you know about the back way in from a nearby village!

Heckington Windmill was originally built in 1830. In 1890, the mill was repaired using eight sails, and now claims to be the world's only working 8-sail windmill! The site has a Visitor Centre, Tea Room, Brewery, gardens, onsite bakehouse and museum. Cycle racks are available to park up and secure your bike.

Grimsthorpe Castle is a wonderful historic house, park & garden, open in the summer and with extensive cycling and walking trails throughout the estate. If you are a Historic Houses or RHS Member, then you enjoy free entry to the Castle, Park & Gardens. Otherwise if you would like to cycle the trails at Grimsthorpe Castle, you will need to pay an entry fee.

Halfway point of route: The dark patch in the foreground was the site of Sempringham Priory where Gwenllian (daughter of the last native Prince of Wales) was held, by arrangement of King Edward I (13th century) as a bargaining chip against Welsh rebellion. Who knew such history was so close to home :-)

Cracking little cafe set on a quiet road in Heckington. Good menu very well priced and really good customer service. A lot of cycling cafes could learn about from this place!

Nice cycle friendly cafe and micro brewery. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating plus cycle racks in view of the outdoor area.

Good gravel tracks in the woods. Watch out for dog walkers.

Very friendly village shop, great stop for a rest. Seating outside. All the usual snacks available including ice cream and coffee.

Uphill the grass track towards Ingoldsby wood. Nightmare in the winter as floods easily. Very nice in Spring/Summer.
