Great route from Beighton to Staveley

Still closed, just in case anyone tries to pop down like I did the other day!

Opened in 1892 by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, Killamarsh Central had two platforms, each with a timber building and a large canopy. The station closed to the public in 1963 when local services on the Great Central were discontinued. The platforms and sidings remained in use for goods traffic until 1965.

This is a lovely section of the Robin Hood way from Creswell Crags to Clumber Park. It crosses betwen Gouldsmeadow and Shrubbery Lake and offers plenty of scenery including lakes, meadows and tree lined avenues.

Lowered into place on October 21st 2024 This magnificent structure is 38 metres long and weighs about 40 tons. It replaces a brick bridge on what was originally the Great Central Railway and creates a direct route between Staveley and the Trans Pennine Trail as part of the Chesterfield Canal Restoration

An interesting, fun and original bridge over the River Don and under the railway viaduct. Highly recommended.

Lovely old disused railway line, now a perfect Greenway linking Creswell and Clowne. This Greenway is around 5 miles on easy to cycle gravel path, continues on towards Poolsbrook and Staveley

Wonderful, fun bridge and an ingenious way of going through the arch of the much bigger old railway bridge.

Great tow path along the canal all the way from Sheffield to Rotherham, easy going with nice views.

Unfortunately, closed at the moment due to vandalism. It's best to go down the Rd to the right of the river under the railway bridge next to the hotel. You can pick up the five weirs easily that way.

Great for hiking, running and cycling it can get busy during school holidays

It gets busy in the summer but its a great shortcut in the winter

An interesting cable-stayed footbridge over the river Rother near the northern lake in Rother Valley Country Park. The bridge was designed in the 1980's to withstand bank subsidence. It connects the country park with the Waleswood area.

The bridge is a lot of fun to go over on a bike
