둠즈데이 북에는 1086년 콜윅에 교회와 사제가 있었다고 기록되어 있습니다. 현재 폐허로 남아 있는 교회는 16세기에 존 바이런 경이 대부분 지었지만, 이전 교회의 14세기 및 15세기 부분을 통합하고 있습니다. 당시 건물은 평범한 탑이 아닌 첨탑을 가지고 있었을 것입니다. 1912년까지 교회의 지붕은 좋지 않은 상태였습니다. 수리로 건물이 몇 년 동안 다시 사용할 수 있게 되었지만, 교회의 상태는 계속 악화되었고 1920년까지 겨울에는 일부 예배가 학교 교실에서 열렸고 나중에는 새로 지은 교구 회관에서 열렸습니다. 1923년부터 일부 결혼식이 교구 회관에서 거행되었습니다. 1924년 3월, 빗물받이가 수리되고 벽에 모르타르가 발라졌습니다. 지붕은 다시 수리되었지만 상태는 계속 우려를 낳았고, 1933년에 교회는 위험하다는 이유로 버려졌습니다. 1936년 3월에 안전하지 않다는 이유로 최종적으로 폐쇄되었고, 1936년 11월에는 지붕의 주요 대들보가 무너졌습니다.

A Local Nature Reserve in Nottinghamshire The Netherfield Lagoons, Local Nature Reserve is situated on the Trent Valley Flood Plain in Nottinghamshire and has been partly used as a dump for coal slurry but with two remaining gravel ponds. The two slurry pits are separated by a raised causeway, which is elevated some 50 feet (15 m) above the pits, giving a commanding view of the area. The largest tank is virtually full but retains some water, with muddy edges attractive to waders and roosting gulls and terns. The smaller tank is mainly deep water, attracting good numbers of wildfowl, with smaller birds, especially warblers, feeding and breeding around the tank edges. The now derelict St John the Baptist Church was built by Sir John Byron in the 16th century, incorporating 14th and 15th century sections from an earlier church. Good roads that circle the castle, can use them to make a good route for the family, a bit lumpy but enjoyable and the roads are fairly quiet.

Not far away from 'fantastic cafe serving excellent coffe and cake' featured in a recent komoot posting. This road provides a relatively easy route SW overlooking the Vale. At its southern end, ride through Eastwell and take the steep descent of Waltham Lane to Harby. You can then return along flat roads, finally to climb back up to Belvoir and the cafe and carpark.

Bike parking, plenty of space, its surprising who you bump into when your sat refueling! Cakes and sausage sandwiches are great ( They do other things that look good but I'm a simple man) and I always enjoy the coffee.

They provide lots of bike parking and can even supply locks should you forget yours. The food and drink is awesome too (their bacon rolls rock).

Great food with a great setting, well worth a visit because I really can’t fault the place!
