"Wine sculptures" are appearing with increasing frequency in prominent locations throughout the Wachau region. Along the Danube riverbank road near Krems or close to Göttweig Abbey, they rise unmistakably above the islands in the middle of roundabouts.

To wine its art – to art its truth The artist Fritz Gall defines his approach to the central theme as “fantastic regionalism©”. Wine is the starting point and expression of his creations; the materials of wine culture are his materials.

The expansive view from the Dürnstein Pulpit is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Highly recommended!

The Fesslhütte, with its lovely garden, is a great place to stop for a snack. The food was delicious and the service was extremely friendly.

The Starhembergwarte at 564 m is a small observation tower high above Dürnstein.

Super destination with a view of the Wachau

Very nice route. The steeper section is secured with a rope, but it’s not particularly difficult to get through. If someone prefers, they can clip in with a via ferrata set. It’s worth doing for the views. The trail requires a bit of caution, but it’s not especially hard
