A Bronze Age burial ground

Horstsee is one of the Wermsdorf ponds

Together with the Horstsee and the Göttwitzsee, it is part of the large Wermsdorf ponds and is used primarily for intensive fish farming. The dam is still very young. It was only built between 1981 and 1984. It was built to increase the usable pond area for fish farming and to protect the Döllnitz valley from flooding. With its 6.6 meter high and 360 meter long earth dam, it dams the Döllnitz. The dammed water creates a lake of almost 83 hectares with a capacity of 2.9 million cubic meters of water.
