Ulm Town Hall is easily recognizable by its opulent early Renaissance exterior painting. The oldest part of the building is the southeastern main building, which was built in 1370 as a "new department store." The building was first referred to as a town hall in 1419. In the course of the 15th century, the council chamber on the south side received windows framed in Gothic architecture (with six electoral figures) as well as the double windows on the east side. The richly decorated astronomical clock was installed around 1520. The lavish facade painting was also extended to the old building and shows didactic depictions of virtues, commandments and vices. The painting that can be seen today dates from 1900, when the painting, which had been largely destroyed by the weather, was restored or recreated in the spirit of the authentic parts.

Ulm is definitely worth a visit. There is a lot to see and marvel at. My tip: plan a clockwise walk through the old town and plan all the red hiking highlights. That's what we did and we were able to see and discover a lot. You can park your bike in many places, e.g. in front of the city library. There's no point in pushing your bike in the old town.

Ulm is always worth it, even on foot. Due to a lot of construction sites, diversions, events (June-July 2024), etc., some destinations are not accessible by bike or can only be reached via detours. The city has made a lot of effort... to provide cyclists with safe paths and routes through the city. I don't think that any of those responsible have ever cycled these. The signage and detours are a complete disaster. At the moment, I feel sorry for cyclists who don't know their way around here because it is almost impossible to find a passable route. The cycle paths on both sides of the Danube are not fully accessible. It becomes dangerous in Neu-Ulm when the signpost leads you directly over barely visible steps. My tip: take a wide detour by bike or on foot. Unfortunately.
