This 270-acre country park boasts lots of adventurous activities from walking trails to water-based fun, as well as hosting international rowing, triathlon and other sporting events.

Great trail through the woods - magnificent pine trees! Looks like it could get a bit muddy in places if there's been a lot of rain 🌧️ - Great in the dry though! This is a good link as you move on to Laming Gap Lane and then join the bridleway to get you safely over the A46 and journey on to the villages of Kinoulton, Hickling and beyond...🚴👍

Formerly the site of Cotgrave Colliery, one of the most modern pits in Britain, employing up to 2,000 people it closed in 1993. The coal was used to fuel the Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station. The shafts were filled-in, the land was reclaimed and the Park opened in 2000.

The colliery closed in 1993 and the park opened in 2000. The gates are no longer in use as the canal has become overgrown at this point, although they look to be in working condition.

The flood gate and lock system at the entrance to the Nottingham Canal from the River Trent. This is used to control water levels on the canal and allow passage between the two waterways.

Most suitable for Gravel and MTB

Very scenic and a hive of activity in fair weather.

The embankment has currently been closed to cars due to covid, so this makes its the perfect way to get across town on a bike. The river Trent runs next the the road, and is usually full of rowers from the local universities and clubs. There is also large open grass areas to stop at

The climb is a tough one for the area but the view from the top into the Vale is beautiful so well worth the effort!

A few gates but otherwise a really beautiful route to avoid the roads
