Just downstream of Elvaston Castle, the River Derwent flows over a wide, stepped weir with broad impressive cascades. The surrounding wetlands are rich in wildlife, with chances to spot kingfishers, ducks, and even leaping salmon when conditions are right.

This is the eastern access point to Elvaston Castle. It is a 19th-century Gothic Revical Castle set within a 200 acre county park that offers walking paths and lovely scenery.

Rather impressive (probably more so when there's been some rain!) weir on the Derwent river - worth a stop 🚵‍♂️👍

if going clockwise from the Erewash/ Sandiacre to Derby canal when you get to breaston and the Navigation Pub stay on the cycle path there until it becomes impossible to carry on any farther then go on to the main road otherwise you will be going on and off the trail a couple of times.

This is now tarmacked from Derby all the way to Borrowash.

These gates are chained & padlocked shut, however if you are inside trying to get out, then we found that the low wall to the side was easy to clamber over
