It's probably the most underrated point in the peak district, with, in my opinion, the best views in the peaks.

Great views

Possibly the best viewpoint of the Peak District

A place I walk regularly, whether to start the great ridge toward Mam Tor, or coming back from that direction to head down into hope. A gradual gradient with stone steps so manageable in all weather, just very windy a lot of the time!

A great way to do this walk is to drive to Edale Car Park, take the train one stop from Edale to Hope and then follow the walk and descending back to Edale Car Park from Hollins Cross

If you love the Peak District, this is the walk for you. Allow a full day so that you can stop, sit and take in the wonderful scenery

At 1,972 feet (601 m), Grindslow Knoll offers an elevated and isolated position affording a wonderful viewpoint of Edale, across to the Great Ridge and beyond.

One of the most famous routes in the Peak District, The Great Ridge has stunning views on a clear day down to Castleton and Edale, and over to the peaks of Grindslow Knoll and Kinder Scout. It gets quieter as you travel further along the ridge to Lose Hill, with many people just nipping up to the Mam Tor summit. It's a lovely place for a sunrise and cloud inversions, popular with photographers, so get there early! Parking is at the National Trust Mam Tor car park, just down the hill from Mam Tor (S33 8WA).

A bit of a cross roads on the Great Ridge. It's around halfway between Mam Tor and Back Tor and from here you can head down into Edale or Castleton. There is a Monument near the gate.

Situated at the end of The Great Ridge with spectacular views back towards Mam Tor, Lose Hill tends to be a lot quieter than Mam Tor. There is a short steep climb if approaching from Mam Tor but the views are worth it.

One of the most under rated peaks in the Peak District, with far reaching views over Kinder Scout and the Great Ridge of Mam Tor, Back Tor and Lose Hill. You can also see for miles down the Edale valley. Well worth the climb up!

The way up is rewarded with a gorgeous view over the valley.

Mam Tor is a breathtaking summit with enchanting views over the Peak District. In clear conditions, the views stretch all the way to Manchester. There are so many options when hiking in this area, too. It can get busy, though, so choose your moment.

Hollins Cross is a col with spectacular panoramic views. There are loads of great trails around here, especially via the Great Ridge to Mam Tor. It can get very busy at popular times/when the weather is great, so choose your moment.

Half way up Losehill looking towards the village of Hope. The wind in winter can prove challenging on this exposed ridge.

At 1,972 feet (601 m), Grindslow Knoll is a lofty perch, high on the termination of one of Kinder Scout's central southern limbs. This elevated and isolated position makes it a sumptuous viewpoint for Edale, across to the Great Ridge and beyond. It can be ascended straight from Edale, or worked into a longer outing on Kinder's escarpments.

Half way point along the great ridge really between Mam Tor and Lose Hill. Superb vantage point...but the whole ridge is really. Super little place to be with great views on a sunny day.

The summit is 462 m above sea level and it is bounded by the River Derwent to the east, the River Noe to the south west and Ladybower Reservoir to the north, with a ridge running north west linking it to Kinder Scout.
