We were there just after some heavy rains and the river was quite wide and deep, difficult to get the bikes through. We decided to dismount and carry the bikes over the footbridge. This would have been easy if there was not a metal post at the eastern end making it difficult, especially as one of the bikes was a very heavy electric machine.

Slippery when wet!

Nice area to stop by, have a snack and enjoy the peaceful noise of a running stream. Don't stop if you need to pee haha! :)

This is a scenic path that winds above the River Wye in the Peak District. You're only a moment away from Fin Cop here, a big hill that protrudes from the landscape and overlooks some of the key Peak District landmarks such as Monsal Dale.

The Church dates from the 12th century. While some 13th-century parts remain – notably the south door with its original Norman decorative stone arch tympanum featuring carvings of a wild boar and other creatures, and also parts of the west tower – the church underwent extensive remodelling, including restoring the tympanum to its rightful place, between 1868 and 1870 by J.M. and H. Taylor, and was reopened on 24 June 1870 by the Bishop of Lichfield.

A spectacular dale where you can admire the abundance of wild flowers. Part of a string of nature reserves along the Monsal Trail in the Wye Valley.

One of the prettiest villages in the peaks, quiet as people drive past it to visit Bakewell .Nice spot by the river to refuel and enjoy the view.

Fantastic views thoughout, bit of a scramble at the top, bit slippery underfoot, fair degree of exposure in wet, windy, snowy condition.

Ashford in the Water is a very pretty Peak District village. It's a nice detour off the A6 between Buxton and Bakewell. There is a nice tearoom and the medieval sheep wash bridge.
