Experience breathtaking views as you wind through the Peak District along a picturesque trail by the River Wye. You'll encounter a small crossing made of rocks and planks nearby (just be cautious after heavy rains).

As the Pennine Bridleway climbs out of the Wye valley and away from the Monsal Trail the views open up. From here you can see along the Wye and opposite up Great Rocks Dale. If you carry on climbing out of the valley, you'll end up in Blackwell.

Rocks and plank allow crossing of the river here, although may be submerged or dangerous after heavy rain.

Stepping stones used to follow the riverside path along the Wye below the cliffs of Chee Tor. This is a much less used path than the popular Monsal Trail along the old railway above but lots of fun. Watch out if the river is high.

Chee Dale is an incredible scenic valley just off the Monsal Trail near to Millers Dale. You can get to the Chee Dale Stepping Stones if you follow the River Wye around the imposing, impressive cliff of Chee Tor by coming off the Monsal Trail. You can also do a circular walk that incorporates the stepping stones from Millers Dale. The whole area is a scenic wonderland, and it is well worth doing the walk from Millers Dale.

Known as "Illy-Willy Water" this spring was the source of Chelmorton's water until the late 19th century.

The stepping stones are often submerged so plan your visit when the water level is low. Getting to them with a bike is a bit challenging (a few tall steps and a narrow path) but the view is rewarding. The almost crystal clear water with a hint of turquoise colour adds beauty to the place.

Here a beautiful multi-arch stone bridge spans over the River Wye.

A tunnel on the former Midland Railway, now part of the Monsal Trail.

Crowded with groups abseiling down from the bridge, even late afternoon mid-week in February. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the adventure.

Less adventurous than the other parts of the walk along the river, but quite tranquil and relaxing to walk.

One of the nicest segments of the walk along the river and definitely great for kids. The stones are less slippery than they look, but still be careful not to get wet feet.
