The Victoria Embankment was built between 1898 & 1901. It's an area of riverside pathway protected from the river by concrete steps. There are lots of benches along the river designed to offer walkers a nice place to stroll and rest.

The embankment has currently been closed to cars due to covid, so this makes its the perfect way to get across town on a bike. The river Trent runs next the the road, and is usually full of rowers from the local universities and clubs. There is also large open grass areas to stop at
