The Reedham Ferry Inn enjoys a tranquil riverside spot next to Norfolk's only operating chain ferry. As well as good food and drink, there's also a campsite with various facilities, including electrical hook-up, toilets and showers. The chain ferry runs continuously on an on demand basis.

Something of a Reedham institution, Cannell's by the River is a farm shop, deli and patisserie. As well as serving excellent food, Cannell's sells local produce, such as jams, chutneys, fresh meat and cheeses. It's the perfect place to stock up on supplies before walking adventures in the Broads.

There's been a swing bridge here since Victorian times but the current Reedham Swing Bridge dates from the early 20th century. It carries the Wherry railway line across the River Yare, one of the great rivers of the Broads. Incredibly, the bridge is opened around 1,300 times in a normal year.

Reedham is a popular village situated on the lower reaches of the River Yare. Riverside is a long street running next to the Yare with benches, a pub and holiday cottages. It is also home to one of the last remaining railway swing bridges and chain ferries in the country.

Cadge's Mill is a historic watermill nestled alongside the banks of the River Yare. An information board at the site explains the history and rustic architecture of the working mill.

Reedham is a charming little village situated on the banks of the River Yare in Norfolk. The village is home to a historic 17th-century windmill, a plethora of great independent shops to browse, and a perfect country pub, The Ship Inn.

Hardley Dyke was created in the early 19th century to connect the village of Hardley with the River Yare. It was much easier to travel on the broads by water than by road so this straight channel provided good access in and out of the village.

UPDATE: Berney Arms Windmill is currently closed to visitors pending a major project to restore the mill to full working order. English Heritage has not given a date for when it will open (hopefully soon).

Berney Arms Station is a remote station that’s been dubbed the quietest in the UK. That said, in 2021 the station saw 348 passengers, compared with 42 the previous year — which was the biggest year-on-year increase of any UK station, the BBC reports. While it might still not be the best place for trainspotting, hikes around here are always full of wildlife, beauty and serenity.

Not many trains stop here.

The Reedham Ferry is a chain-pulled ferry that crosses the River Yare. It is operational from 6.30am-8pm Monday to Friday and 8am-8pm Saturday and Sunday. Berney Arms Windmill is one of Norfolk's best and largest surviving marsh mills. The Scheduled Monument occupies a beautiful position beside the River Yare and is free to visit. The mill was built in 1865 to grind clinker for cement and worked as a drainage mill from 1880. After ceasing operations in 1948, the mill underwent restoration and is now in the care of English Heritage.

Hardley Cross is a 17th-century monument on the banks of the River Yare. The original wooden cross was erected in 1543 to mark the ancient boundary between the City of Norwich and the Borough of Great Yarmouth. The limestone cross you see today was erected around 1676 and is Grade II-listed.
